PRESSING ON "But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ." PHI 3:7- 8 Regardless of how established we are, we may not sit and become stagnant. We must go forward and grow and press toward the mark. Paul never taught complacency; he was always pressing forward for further maturity in the faith. Watch what we see in PHI 3:12-14, "Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Paul continued to strive, to go forward; there was no resting on the faith he already possessed. There was a continual pressing forward. We will not find a place where we may say, "I have faith, and I am saved; therefore, I can rest." Little faith is enough to see the mountains of sin, but not enough to see that Sun of Righteousness which shall arise over them. We may take notice of people who are mourning over their sins, but they have never come to a deliverance in Christ. Why? It is because they have little faith; they are not overcoming the circumstances by faith; the circumstances are overcoming their faith. They do not have the faith to see the Sun of Righteousness who arises with healing in His wings. Amen. Death Culture is being taught May 7, 1999 There has been another shooting at a public high school. This time it occurred in a small town near Mobile, Alabama called Bay Minette. An honor role senior who was a finalist for selection as class valedictorian shot himself in the mouth in front of horrified classmates, teachers and his mother on the school soccer field. Liberals say the problem is easy access to firearms. Not true. Guns were never more inaccessible than they are today. There are more than 20,000 gun control laws restricting access to firearms in America currently. It wasn't that long ago when companies like Sears and Roebuck sold firearms through their catalogs. Generations of Americans grew up with unlocked, loaded guns in their homes. They never had to deal with the kind of violence that this generation is forced to contend with. What is different about this generation is the death culture that dominates our nation. First, courts removed the moral basis of civil society by removing God and religious values from public life. Without a definitive moral code to guide us our culture is rudderless. We are plodding through a sea of situation ethics and moral relativism. Nihilism and hedonism are vogue. Second, we have accepted and legalized the wanton slaughter of millions of unborn babies. Abortion has numbed our hearts and seared our conscience. Even those people calling themselves pro-life are unwilling to champion the pro-life cause. Politicians and preachers both run scared from even discussing the subject. The abortion culture has spawned partial-birth abortion, infanticide, euthanasia and suicide. Many public schools, including Columbine High School in Littleton, actually teach "death education." Without God and absolute morality life itself is reduced to a level lower than animals. In fact, in many circles within our culture animal life is shown considerable more respect than human life. One cannot destroy the eggs of many birds without facing heavy fines and imprisonment while babies are legally destroyed with impunity. There are certain kinds of insects that enjoy more protection from the laws of our nation than unborn children do. Add to this the example of our president. Bill Clinton's administration began with the deaths of over 80 American citizens including mostly old men, women and children in Waco, Texas. Not a single soul was held accountable. People who are considered political enemies or potential problems for Mr. Clinton have been threatened and intimidated. And more than 60 people having association with this man have prematurely and mysteriously died. This message has also been sent oversees. No less than five sovereign nations have been bombed by orders from this president. The latest act of Clinton aggression has rained death and destruction upon the people of Yugoslavia. Thousands have died and many thousands more have been maimed, paralyzed, dismembered and scarred by Clinton's fits of violence. One could easily draw the conclusion that the one lesson that our children have learned is how to commit violence. It is a lesson that they have learned from a godless public education system, an amoral entertainment industry and decadent politicians. If we are serious about wanting our children to respect life, to live civilly and to restrain their base passions and impulses somebody must show them how to do it. America has plummeted from righteous living, prosperity and success in the last quarter century. What happened? America's moral decline rapidly accelerated following one event- the U.S. Supreme Court's removal of prayer from our nation's schools. On June 25, 1962, 39 million students were forbidden to do what they and their predecessors had been doing since the founding of our nation- publicly calling upon the name of the Lord at the beginning of each school day. The New York school children which prompted the Engel vs. Vitale ruling had simply prayed: "Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence on Thee and beg Thy blessing over us, our parents, our teachers and our nation." America has experienced radical decline in each of the four areas which the children's prayer touched upon: youth, family, education, national life. The removal of prayer from our schools was a violation of the third commandment which commands us "not to take the name of the Lord in vain." By the judicial act of forbidding invocation, the Court audaciously elevated a secularized system of education beyond the authority, reach and blessing of God Himself. Whats worse, the name of the Lord is now treated with contempt, denied and stripped from the lips of America's school children. Jesus said, " Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them". The judges of our Courts,school administators and public school teachers will one day stand before a just God and give account. It will be better for them if a millstone were tied around their neck and cast into the bottom of the sea than the punishment they will endure in that day of judgment. HE HAD MOSES LIFT UP A SERPENT ON A POLE AND WHOEVER LOOKED UPON THAT SERPENT LIVED. JESUS CHRIST, GOD'S SON, WAS LIFTED UP ON A CROSS.
